YTEC serves San Francisco
juvenile offender’s
aged 14-18 who have a history of drug or alcohol abuse or mental illness. Most live
in single-parent low-income households and many have been in out-of-home
placements including foster care.
At the time of their enrollment, the majority have had multiple
arrests, are truant from school, and experienced violence within their
homes and/or neighborhoods. A disproportionate number are African
American or Latino and multi-racial. Girls comprise approximately
40% of the total youth population. |
