Starting his legendary career in golf at Stanford University Sandy Tatum played on the 1941 & 1942 national championship teams.

He was also conference champion 1942 and eventually a member of the Stanford Hall of Fame. After receiv ing a law degree from Stanford in 1950 he eventually became a partner with the prominent San Francisco and Silicon Valley law firm of Cooley LLP.

When inducted into the Northern California Golf Asso ciation Hall of Fame in February 2011, the NCGA wrote the following tribute: “The rich golf legacy of Frank “Sandy” Tatum is crystallized by his now-famous defense of the punishing setup of Winged Foot for the 1974 U.S. Open. When he said, “Our objective is not to humiliate the best players in the world. It’s to identify them.” From 1978 to 1989, Sandy served as President of the USGA>

A recent inductee of the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame, today, at 90 years old, Sandy remains one of golf’s most influential pur ists. His life, like that signature pause at the top of his swing, continues to be unforgettable.

5th Annual YTEC Golf Classic
a Huge Success

YTEC Supporters play the Johnny Miller redesigned North Course

Golfers from around the Bay Area, including prominent business, professional, and community leaders, were on the links Wednesday, May 18, 2011 for the 5th Annual YTEC Golf Classic at Silverado Country Club & Resort in Napa!

Golfers will enjoyed a tee prize of a $50 gift certificate to Silverado's Pro Shop. The tournament kicked off with a long drive exhibition at 11:00 a.m., and it included both scramble and best ball formats.

The festivities continued with an awards ceremony and dinner, complete with a raffle, and live and silent auctions. KGO sportscaster/former 49er Mike Shumann and Hooked on Golf's Mitch Juricich presided over the ceremonies, which featured many fabulous getaways, wine and sports items.
