Greeting cards were made by youth from YTEC Leadership, a program of the Youth Treatment and Education Center in San Francisco. The proceeds from the sale of these cards helped raise funds for an educational trip which four YTEC youth took to Africa. These young people performed community-aid work and learned about African culture while visiting Tanzania and Zanzibar. “The goal of our project is to educate ourselves and the youth of San Francisco about African culture and to address the common misperceptions about Africa and its peoples. It is our intention to expand the knowledge of our peers by putting on a workshop in San Francisco at local schools and organizations, on the “Truth and Lies of African Culture.” We hope that from this workshop youth will start to engage in their education and be inspired to further their learning of not only who they are as individuals but also who the people in their community are.” YTEC Leadership Youth
