Step One: Youth In San Francisco Juvenile Justice System
Youth who are substance abusers and convicted of a non-violont criminal charge are offered two choices:

  • Choice A: Incarceration or out-of home placement without treatment….. or
  • Choice B: Drug Court / YTEC

Step Two: Youth Enter Drug Court Through YTEC
Youth live at home or in a group home and they commit to attending an intensive day treatment program with curfews, regular drug testing, and weekly, then bi-weekly appearences before judge. They access services including:

  • The PCC High School / Vocational programs / Experessive Arts / Treatment / Counseling / Case Management / Family Services

Step Three: Youth Graduate From Drug Court Though YTEC
After earning 24 weeks of program compliance and six months drug-free, youth graduate from Drug Court. They can then choose to leave YTEC and return to their previous school or can stay involved in YTEC’s programs:

  • The Principals' Center Collaborative
    Youth can choose to stay until they graduate High School
  • Leadership Fellows Program
    An “after-care” leadership, peer mentoring program
  • Shool to College / Career / Work
    YTEC supports youths’ transition to college or employment
