Dear Fear,
The day has come for me to declare
my independence, I can’t
keep holding on to this fear. I have to let it go and declare my freedom
to learn. I have been running all my life from you, but now it is
time to declare what I need.
You made me afraid to learn and because
of that I became negative and lost, but now I have found my way. Letting
you control my life made me afraid to read because you told me people
will laugh at me and that made me angry. I thought people would laugh
at me so I didn’t go to class. I asked myself, “Why me?
I have gone to school every day and I yet have this problem.” Now
I’m letting you go and I’m not afraid to learn. Fear is
not an option.
Good-bye, Dominique
What Is War Good For?
What is war good for? Absolutely nothing!
It’s like our world is ending before our very own eyes and
All we can do is pray and hope to see another day
I believe we’ve been in slavery since birth and the issues we
Go through are deeper than hurt
Our judgment day is just seconds away, but for some reason
We treat life as a game
Evil thoughts are just feelings
Which makes war sound real silly
Innocent people die for a country that’s full of lies
And that makes me want to cry
But when I reflect, I notice crying is not helping
Because in reality, we live to die
As I observe the media glamorizing negative street lies
When it’s really all about changing our lives
For the better and not for the worse
By helping each other not fighting against each other
It starts with you because everyone plays a part
And by you putting in a positive input really makes a
Difference in this world
I feel it’s deeper than just war with Iraq
We’re at war within ourselves
Defending each other from killing one another
I’ll say it again; we’re living in the last days
And all we can do is pray and hope to see a change
By striving for a better day and keeping faith
In our creator, who works in mysterious ways

A Way With Words
She has a way with words
Sometimes sweet and mellow
She has a way with words
That sometimes she can’t describe
She has a way of looking at the sunlight
Glancing and thinking about the right words
She has a way of loving when she holds on too tight
She has a way of walking, holding her head up high
Dancing, parading, singing,
She has a way of sleeping, sinking in to her dreams
She has a way of smiling gracefully
She has a way of talking when she's mad, screaming, hurting, still trying to
hold on
She has a way with her feelings, walking around, not showing how she’s
hiding
She has a way of loving me, holding, struggling, trying to figure out what
to do when she doesn’t know if it’s going to last.
